
In less than seven hours, the polls open in the sleepy village of
Dixville Notch, New Hampshire. Beginning in 1960, this tight-knit New England community has entertained midnight voting for President in the "Ballot Room" of The
Basalms resort hotel. The votes are counted
immediatley and reported with much media fanfare.
In 2004, its 26 registered voters broke heavily for George W. Bush over John Kerry, 19 to 7.
