Dixville Notch, New Hampshire: "First in the Nation"
In less than seven hours, the polls open in the sleepy village of Dixville Notch, New Hampshire. Beginning in 1960, this tight-knit New England community has entertained midnight voting for President in the "Ballot Room" of The Basalms resort hotel. The votes are counted immediatley and reported with much media fanfare.
